Purge (Confidential Files Eraser)

Purge is a program that allows you to delete files from your computer the way, it won`t be possible to recover them using any file recovering software or even by giving your harddrive to the professional company that specialize in data recovering. Standard "Delete" method provided to you by the operating system, don`t really destroy the data on your hardrive, it merely removes filename from directory list, and marks space occupied by your file as free. Entire content of the file is still there and can be easily recovered!

Why do you need Purge? If you keep on your computer files containing confidential data and you want to be sure that no one will be able to recover them, once you decided to delete them, then you need Purge.

Purge allows you to permanently erase these files from your hardrive, by overwriting their`s content with random data, sector by sector. You can use Purge to destroy and erase content of any confidential files or directories on your drive including text documents, pictures, movies, sound files, pdf documents, or files in any format.

Purge uses custom pseudorandom number generator with enormous period and large seed value. Overwriting file with random, chaotic data, which cannot be reconstructed, is critical, since some of the specialistic companies or goverment agiencies are capabe to revover files that have been simply erased (ie overwritten with constant value - most likely 0), using specialistic hardware.

Purge package consist of two files: Purge.exe and Purge.dll. Purge.exe is for console usage and allows you to purge single file or recursively entire directory. It also support wildcards for erasing multiple files/directories. Purge.dll is a Windows shell extension that integrates itself with Windows Explorer allowing you to Purge your files as easily as deleteing them is. Simply select files/directories in Windows Explorer you want to permanently erase, right click and choose "Purge" menu item, which is just below Delete item.
