Osnovna uloga FileTransfer modula je prenos datoteka sa jednog mesta na drugo. Izvor i odredište za datoteke može biti na lokalnom hard disku ili to može biti FTP folder. Datoteke se mogu prenositi sinhrono ili asinhrono.
Prilikom sinhronog transfera glavna aplikacija čeka da se prenos završi i blokirana je za bilo koju drugu aktivnost.
Prilikom asinhronog transfera glavna aplikacija je slobodna za bilo koji drugi posao, a status se može proveravati preko .
Modul se takođe može koristiti i za kompresiju/dekompresiju datoteka koje se prenose.
